John P. Lynch, MD

Clinical Advisor

John P. Lynch, MD,was named Chief Medical Officer for Barnes-Jewish Hospital in July 2009. Dr. Lynch is a faculty member of Washington University School of Medicine and has been on staff at Barnes-Jewish Hospital since 1995. His clinical focus is on lung transplantation and the management of end stage pulmonary and pulmonary vascular diseases. Dr. Lynch’s care management interests include predictive modeling development and enhancement; clinical program design and evaluation; outcomes measurement; sales strategic direction.

Previously, Dr. Lynch served as Executive Director of Medical Affairs for Health Management Partners (HMP), a Management Services Organization (MSO) sponsored by Washington University School of Medicine and BJC HealthCare. In his role at HMP, Dr. Lynch developed care coordination, care enhancement, disease management programs that focused resources on patients whose complex medical and social challenges required unique interventions. Dr. Lynch has published in the area of care coordination was the principal investigator for the St. Louis Medicare Coordinated Care Demonstration Project, a four-year study awarded by The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services that is tracked the results of care coordination services provided for Medicare patients.

Dr. Lynch is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Lynch received his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed his residency at the former Barnes Hospital and completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine, as well as being a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
